Frequently asked questions
During your appointment the brace is warmed by the orthotist so it become completed melted and flexible, and cooled so it is comfortable to the touch. The orthotist then fits the malleable brace in the correct position on the body while it cools further and sets. This heat is gentle on the skin – it is even suitable for use on babies.
The costs will vary with the size and style of Turtle brace required.
As a guide a Ankle/Foot Turtle brace is around £350 excl VAT.
A wrist brace is £ 200 excl VAT.
For an Ankle/Foot Turtle brace, you need to book our AFO (ankle foot orthoses) or Footdrop assessment package which costs £395 and includes
- 90 minute assessment – this includes a full bio-mechanical assessment as well as measurements to order the correct size of Turtle brace ahead of the fitting appointment
- 60 minute fitting appointment where the Turtle brace is moulded
- Medical summary report
- 6 week telephone review and free face to face review if needed
For a wrist or elbow Turtle brace you need an upper limb assessment package which costs £295 and includes;
- 60 minute assessment – this includes a full bio-mechanical assessment as well as measurements to order the correct size of Turtle brace ahead of the fitting appointment
- Up to 60 minute fitting appointment where the Turtle brace is moulded
- Medical summary report
- 6 week telephone review and free face to face review if needed
All follow up adjustment appointments are £120 per hour.
The turtle brace can be remoulded up to 200 times. However please be aware that sometimes other elements of the brace may wear over time such as the fabric or fastening, or a new size maybe needed.
Reshaping after the initial appointment is £120 per appointment (1 hour).
