What you need to know about knee braces

Not all knee braces are created equal. Every winter we see an increase in knee pain:
  • ACL & MCL injuries
  • Meniscal problems,
  • Osteoarthritis flare-ups,
  • Long-standing instability and if you are planning to ski this winter that suddenly becomes very real on the slopes.
If people have tried buying a knee brace online, they can often be wearing the wrong brace for their condition, activity, and pain profile.
Different knees need different solutions:
  • Osteoarthritis & general wear and tear → unloading braces to reduce joint pressure
  • Ligament injuries (ACL, MCL, PCL) → functional hinged braces for stability
  • Meniscal injuries & instability → dynamic support with movement control
  • Post-surgery / return to sport → sport-specific protective bracing
  • Skiing & high-impact sports → protection, control, and confidence without restriction
Our independent orthotist has access to all knee brace suppliers so has a wide range of options available.
We assess the knee, the lifestyle, the sport, the job, the pain, the goals — then we prescribe.  And if you are wanting to get back to skiing, knee brace assessments can even be done on the slopes – we offer real world solutions for real life problems.
