Meet Laura – Clinical Specialist Orthotist
LEWis BRAND Orthotics is led by Laura, a highly experienced Clinical Specialist Orthotist with over 15 years of professional practice.
Laura graduated from the National Centre for Training and Education in Prosthetics and Orthotics at Strathclyde University, Glasgow in 2010. She began her career as a dual practitioner in both prosthetics and orthotics at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, before choosing to specialise exclusively in orthotics — where her true passion lies.
Over the years, Laura has developed extensive experience in paediatric and neurological orthotic care, establishing and running specialist multidisciplinary clinics across East Anglia, the South Coast, and London.
She firmly believes that the best outcomes come from collaborative working, regularly partnering with consultants, physiotherapists, other health professionals to deliver seamless, joined-up care.
A Specialist Eye for Footwear
Laura also has a lifelong interest in footwear design and construction, having undertaken additional training with lecturers from Cordwainers College, London.
This specialist insight into shoe manufacture and materials enhances her clinical work — allowing her to design orthotic and footwear solutions that are not only functional but also comfortable and aesthetically considered.
Her love for craftsmanship even extends to her personal life — she proudly designed and made her own wedding shoes in 2017!
Life Beyond the Clinic
Outside of work, Laura enjoys an active and community-focused lifestyle.
She regularly attends Pilates, loves long walks with the family Clumber Spaniel across Bredon Hill, and keeps busy running around after her two young boys, who ensure every day is full of fun and energy.
Laura also plays for a ladies’ softball cricket team, competing in the Worcestershire Soft Ball Development League — a fantastic experience that has been both a massive learning curve and a great source of laughter and enjoyment.
Supporting the Local Community
Laura is also proud to serve as a trustee of a local charitable foundation, which supports community projects and the development of shared spaces such as children’s play areas and other local resources.
Together with fellow trustees, Laura helps to organise regular fundraising events throughout the year, bringing people together while raising funds for projects that make a genuine difference within the community.
